The "Camera Disabled" error alert prevents you from capturing photos or videos within the app.
Sometimes, the camera can be disabled if you have no data connection initially. Try moving into an area with a strong connection until the alert disappears and the camera shutter is enabled. You may be able to return to the previous location after this point without seeing the error again.
Initializing Camera
If your app says "Initializing Camera" for more than a few minutes, please try these steps:
Restart your device
As soon as it restarts, turn off Bluetooth
Ensure no other apps are running in the background (see how: Apple Article or Android Article)
Open the Truepic Vision app and try again
Camera Disabled Checklist
If those steps did not correct the issue, please check the following:
Ensure that you have mobile data enabled.
Ensure that you can connect to a data service if you are roaming.
Ensure you are running the latest version of the Truepic Vision app on your device.
Ensure your device is not modified, rooted, or jailbroken.
If the error message is related to your location, ensure you are at the location given to the partner company that requested the inspection. It should be listed below the Camera Disabled message, saying "Please relocate to..." and the expected address. If the address is incorrect, contact the partner company who asked you to use our app to have them change it.
Ensure that your phone is not in Developer Options mode. If your phone is in this mode, see the directions below for how to turn it off.
Disable Developer Options
Open your phone's Settings app.
Tap Developer Options in the settings menu.
Tap the slider button at the top right of the screen to Off.
Restart your phone.
Additional Android Troubleshooting
Suppose you are on an Android device and have already checked that the above options do not apply. In that case, you can try to delete the Truepic Vision app data, uninstall it, and reinstall it.
Note: If you've provided any answers in your inspection, uninstalling the app will remove all answers you've provided thus far but could resolve your Camera Disabled error.
The steps for this are:
While the app is installed, go to the Settings app, then Apps / Applications.
Find the Truepic Vision app in this list, and tap on it.
Click on Storage & Cache.
Click on Clear storage.
Uninstall the Truepic Vision app.
Restart your device.
Tap the smartlink you received via text or email to reinstall the Truepic Vision app.
If you continue to experience issues with the app not enabling your camera after trying these steps, please contact us and let us know the full Camera Disabled message you're receiving (including a screenshot, if possible), the make and model of your Android device, and current operating system version.
