Introduction
This guide walks you through setting up and using the Truepic Vision app on an Android device for the first time. Truepic Vision is a digital inspection platform that provides a quick and convenient way to send verified, trustworthy images and videos directly to the requester. The Truepic Vision app is a camera application available exclusively on iOS and Android devices.
If you were instructed to use the Truepic Vision app by one of our clients, wait until you have received either an email or text message (or both) with a link that will take you directly to your inspection request for submission.
Note: If you are inspecting somewhere with poor or no signal, first open your inspection link and complete the full app setup (download the app, grant Camera and Location permissions, and reach the inspection screen) while on a connected network. Then leave the app open on the inspection screen for 20 seconds to sync. You can go offline after that to take photos, but photos won't fully upload until you return to a connection. If the required inspection location has no signal, you may run into issues.
You received your Smartlink, now what?
To begin, have your smartphone or tablet running stock Android handy so you can tap on the link in the text message or email you received. There is no username or password required to log in. If you received the link through email on a desktop, you can forward it to, or open it on, your smart device.
Open the text message or email with the link on your smartphone or tablet. Tap on the link.
You will be taken to a new screen, reading "Ready to get started?". Click the Copy & Continue button.
A prompt will open letting you know the link was copied and it is trying to open the Play Store. Click Open if prompted.
In the Play Store, click Install or, if you've downloaded the app previously, Open.
Once downloaded, open the Truepic Vision app. Your request should open for you, including your name. If it does not, you may see this screen — paste the link from the email or text you received:
Once the app recognizes you, it will display your name and the company that requested the inspection. Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then click Get Started.
A screen will show letting you know permissions are needed. Press Enable Permissions at the bottom.
The Truepic Vision app requires Camera and Location (including Precise Location) permissions. Press Allow Access on each box and allow those permissions.
Once all permissions are given, you may briefly see a "Preparing your inspection..." page.
You will then see the Inspection screen, with the list of questions the company has set up for your case.
Using the App
The app will show the list of questions from the partner company who asked you to use Truepic Vision:
Answering Questions
Click on the questions to answer them. If it is a photo question, you can start taking photos for that question. If it is a video question, you will see the option to record a video instead. Otherwise, it will be either a multiple choice question with predetermined answers for you to pick or a standard question in which you type in text in the box to answer.
Which media types are available depends on what the company that sent you the inspection has configured for each question.
Note: The company that sent your inspection can also limit the number of photos/videos allowed per question. If you see the message "Limit reached — please proceed to next item," you have taken the maximum number of photos allowed for that question. This is expected — tap through to the next question and continue your inspection. Or delete your existing photo/video in order to retake it.
Editing Photos
Change Photo Category To change the category or question a photo is in, tap the drop-down at the top, and then tap the correct category/question. | Add Note To add a note or description, tap the + Add Note button and type in the text box. | Edit Note To edit a note or description, tap Edit Note and change your comment in the text box. You will only see this option if a description already exists. |
Deleting Photos
To delete a photo, select the image you want to delete from the Inspection page, and then select the trash icon in the upper-right-hand corner.
What's Next?
Once you have answered all the required questions (noted with an asterisk * in the app), press Finish. Do not do this until you are completely done — you will not be able to alter or add anything after submitting.
Once finished, your answers are sent directly to the company who asked you to use the Truepic Vision app. They will review them and reach out to you directly with questions or next steps.
Still having trouble?
If you encounter any issues while setting up or using the app, contact the company that sent you the inspection request. They can provide additional guidance specific to your situation.
